The MateBook X Pro 2021 is now launching globally.

The great thing about laptops is that they typically last for years. But the sad reality is that every piece of technology eventually reaches the end of its life, and you then need to look for a new model.

If you’re currently using an outdated laptop and are looking to buy a new model, you may not know where to start as there are so many different makes and models available on the market today.

Huawei, in particular, offers an extensive range of laptops and is continually updating it with new models. Two of its most popular laptops are the MateBook X Pro 2021 and MateBook D 15, but which one should you buy? In this article, we compare them and help you decide which best suits your needs.

MateBook X Pro 2021

The MateBook X Pro 2021 is now launching globally.

Over the past few years, Huawei has launched several generations of the MateBook X Pro. Earlier this year, Huawei unveiled the 2021 model in China. But from May 5th, it’ll be available to purchase in the UK and other countries across the world.

So, what is the MateBook X Pro 2021, and who is it aimed at? Well, it’s a high-end laptop that’ll perfectly suit anyone who wants a powerful model for both work and play. One of its best features is a decently sized 13.9-inch touch-sensitive display with a resolution of 3000 x 2000 pixels and a 100% sRGB wide color gamut.

As a result, you can expect extremely clear and vibrant visuals on the MateBook X Pro 2021. This makes it perfect for photographers, video editors, and other creative professionals who need a laptop with a high-resolution display.

Overall, the MateBook X Pro 2021 is slim and lightweight in terms of design. Weighing 1.33kg and measuring 14.6mm thick, it offers a stunning premium metallic frame and a diamond-cut finish. What’s more, you can purchase the MateBook X Pro 2021 in either Emerald Green or Space Grey.

Under the hood, the MateBook X Pro 2021 offers an 11th generation Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, up to 1TB of onboard memory, a dual cooling fan, and a massive 56W battery. Huawei says the MateBook X Pro 2021 can provide up to 11 hours of web browsing, 10 hours of video playback, and 11 hours of general work.

Other features offered by the MateBook X Pro 2021 include Huawei Share support, quad speakers, two front-facing microphones, a power button-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a secret webcam that pops out of the keyboard.

The MateBook X Pro 2021 is set to launch in the UK on May 5th. From this date, you’ll be able to purchase it for £1599.99 via the Huawei Store and other retailers. Of course, not everyone will want to spend this amount of money on a laptop. But you’re definitely getting a lot of advanced technology and features for your cash.

MateBook D 15

The MateBook D 15 is Huawei's mid-range laptop.

While the MateBook X Pro 2021 is Huawei’s current flagship laptop, it does offer a more affordable laptop in the form of the MateBook D 15.

Compared to the MateBook X Pro 2021, the MateBook D 15 has a larger 15.6-inch display. But its 1920×1080 resolution is noticeably smaller than the 3000×2000 display on the MateBook X Pro 2021. Still, many people will prefer a larger screen – regardless of the resolution.

Despite being a mid-range laptop, the MateBook D 15 looks like a premium offering thanks to a metallic design. What’s more, the laptop weighs just 1.53kg and is 16.9mm thick, making it both lightweight and slim.

In terms of power, the MateBook D 15 sports an AMD Ryzen 7 3700U processor, up to 16GB of RAM, a 256GB PCIe SSD, a Radeon RX Vega 10 GPU, and a 42W battery. When you buy the MateBook D 15, you’ll get a 65W USB-C charger that offers 53% of battery after a 30-minute charge.

Like the MateBook X Pro 2021, the MateBook D 15 features a fingerprint sensor built into the power button and a discrete webcam integrated into the keyboard. It also offers Huawei Share support for multi-screen collaboration.

The biggest difference between the MateBook X Pro 2021 and the MateBook D 15 is pricing. You can purchase the MateBook D 15 for just £549.99 in the UK, but what’s worth pointing out is that the internal configurations vary by price.

Which Huawei laptop is for you?

With the success of the MateBook X Pro 2021 and MateBook D 15, Huawei has certainly proved that it’s capable of making excellent laptops. But, ultimately, which should you buy?

If you want the best possible Huawei laptop, we’d definitely recommend the MateBook X Pro 2021 as it offers a stunning design, a bright display, a powerful processor, a large battery, and so much more.

However, should you like something cheaper, the MateBook D 15 is still an excellent option that will suit many people. While its internals may not be as powerful as those found on the MateBook X Pro 2021, it offers a bigger display, a sleek and lightweight design, Huawei Share support, a fingerprint sensor, a secret webcam, and more.
